“Rollerbed Systems’ capabilities will meet or exceed your requirements.”

Slipchain Docks

The Rollerbed System Slipchain Dock is a simple, reliable and very cost effective means of loading and off loading trailers. The weight of the pallets is taken on static rollers and a centrally positioned slipchain provides the friction force to move the them down the line. The slipchain acts as an accumulating conveyor closing up the gaps in the pallet stream ready for entry into the vehicle.

The Slipchain conveyor consists of an endless triplex chain traveling in the horizontal plane. The chain travels on a near frictionless UHMW plastic strip which is supported on an airbag. When the airbag is inflated with low pressure air, it pushes the chain against the underside of the pallet with sufficient force to allow a 5 Hp motor to move a load of up 60, 000 lbs.

The conveyor can be installed on top of a framework or fitted flush with the floor dependant on the relative heights of the trailer and internal facility floor. The chain driving unit is normally located at the front and below the dock, but can be side or pit mounted at the rear.

The simplest system will off-load a trailer and convey the pallet to the rear of the dock ready for removal by fork lift truck. In some installations the dock is an integral part of the overall logistical layout, automatically receiving incoming product from pallet feeder conveyors or incoming trailers, passing the pallet to the next work station.  Inventory management tools such as bar code readers and weigh scales can integrated into the dock and be fully automated.

A typical operation is for a driver to reverse onto the dock, connect the vehicle and by the push of a single button initiate a sequence of events that will take the load from the vehicle and into the warehouse in one effortless action. The dock can be connected to other conveyor systems or serviced by an AGV.

The Rollerbed Systems Slipchain design will load/off load a 53' trailer in 90 seconds and eliminates the bottleneck once caused by having to manually load/off load a trailer. The vehicle is not tied up in the normal time consuming process that can cause damage to your goods, instead it will be already on the return journey. The slipchain system  gives you far better utilization of your vehicles and fleet.
